Nutrition In Parkinson's
Comparing The Effects Of A Low Fat Diet Versus A Ketogenic Diet On The Motor And Non-Motor Symptoms Of Parkinson’s Disease: A Randomized Controlled Trial
The Elephant In The Room
“Does what I eat affect my Parkinson’s?”
The ideal macronutrient ratio is not known:
Do we keep carbohydrates low or high?
Do we keep fats high or low?
•In mid-2017, Waikato Hospital conducted a randomized controlled study to assess the effects of nutrition on Parkinson’s.
•We compared the impact of a low fat, high carbohydrate diet with that of a high fat, low carbohydrate "ketogenic" diet.
•The results are in, and we are delighted to say that the reputable journal Movement Disorders has published the study online as open access (available to all):
•Feel free to have a quick (or long) look, and we offer a huge thanks and congratulations to all the participants and family members who made this study happen!
